<p>We created a whole school art display to celebrate Remembrance Day and brighten up the exterior of our school. Every child in school created their own poppy using a range of media and techniques.  The Nursery children made collage poppies using assorted paper and pva glue, they also experienced print making for the first time [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In Year 3 we are exploring ‘Rocks and Soils’ in Science this term. Today we investigated the strength of rocks (hardness test) and also how much water they can absorb. We worked as a class, deciding on a scaled system to judge the strength and water absorption levels. We looked at rocks of all types; [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have had a wonderful week in Year 3 raising awareness of Anti-Bullying Week through our whole school Friendship Week. We have two appointed Friendship Squad members who will help out anyone feeling lonely on the yard. We celebrated Odd Socks day on Monday by wearing odd socks, designing our own pair of odd socks [&hellip;]</p>

We also enjoyed making our own poppies this week which we decorated using oil pastels. They will be part of a whole school display! <p>Year 3 have worked really hard this afternoon sorting rocks into the following groups; sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. We considered the properties of each rock and discussed in groups to help us to sort. It has been lots of fun to do practical jobs around this topic.</p>

<p>Today we looked at comic strips to learn about how onomatopoeia can be used to bring a piece of writing to life. We then acted out our own scenarios using onomatopoeia speech and effects bubbles – like we were living in our own cartoon or comic strip! Onomatopoeia are words that are also sounds eg.
