<p>Today we had lots of fun producing our own collage in the style of contemporary British artist, Carl Warner. We discussed Warner’s work, where he uses fruit and vegetables to make landscape pictures. We adapted his ideas with our own to make fruit and vegetable art inspired by our local landscapes and landmarks. We really [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week in Year 3 we have been looking at subtracting big numbers. Sometimes, we even have to borrow values from different columns when working with hundreds, tens and ones. To help us out, we have been using concrete resources and place value mats. This helps us to visualise our maths, it’s so much easier [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a wonderful morning exploring the natural world on our door step! We went on a nature trail around our yard and field. We worked in groups of three to search for signs of hedgehogs. We had a go at building our own hedgehog homes and looked for slime trails of slugs which are [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have been continuing with our weekly maths key performance indicators in Year 3. This week, we revised some more KPIs from Year 2, including counting forwards and backwards within 100. Some children were able to challenge themselves with numbers up to, and beyond, 1000! &nbsp;</p>

<p>In Year 3 we have been thinking Our Lady Mary. We have also been thinking about the Rosary and look forward to praying the Rosary later this month. To celebrate Mary, we copied out the Hail Mary in our best handwriting and decorated  a beautiful picture of Mary.</p>

<p>In Year 3 we are started learning our 3 x table this week. In KS1, we learnt our 2s, 5s and 10s and so far have spent some time in Year 3 revising them and also their accompanying division facts. Today we began by counting in 3s on a number line, chanting the table, playing [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today in Year 3 we have been revising some of the Year 2 Maths Key Performance Indicators (KPI&#8217;s), which are key maths skills we should have as we move into KS2. We had fun using dominoes to have a go at doubling and halving, choosing different dominoes, selecting the numbers they show and doubling or [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we got into two teams: for and against, and did our very first debate. As it is safety week, we decided to debate about road safety. We had to think of reasons either for or against and voiced them to the opposition, thinking about, should children be allowed to walk to school on their [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week we have been revising our number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. We have been using a variety of concrete resources to remind ourselves of our learning from KS1. We particularly enjoyed using tens frames to find the difference when adding numbers together to make 10. We could then use this knowledge and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>day we enjoyed working in small groups to produce a presentation all about a piece of natural geography in London, the River Thames. We researched using the internet, books and fact sheets and collated our ideas on sugar paper. We then took it in turns in our groups to present our ideas to the class. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 3 had a wonderful time today at Broxfield farm in Northumberland. We started the day by going on a tractor ride into a field of cows, we saw mother cows feeding their baby calves! We then ventured into the fields and saw learnt how a combine harvester cuts the ears of wheat ready to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have really enjoyed learning all about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Year 3. We have took part in lots of activities to learn about this special event. We looked at the Queen’s reign so far since 1952 and we learnt about the immediate Royal Family. We also zoomed in on the Queen’s reign during [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 5 Nurture Group have started Forest School sessions this week. We have had a fabulous time exploring Scotswood Community Garden, climbing trees and creating new games. We loved Mendy and Elliott&#8217;s new dancing game! IMG_0066 IMG_0067 IMG_0100    </p>

<p>We really enjoyed designing and making Easter baskets! We will use them to carry home our Easter chocolate treats. We used basket cut outs as a base and used tissue paper and coloured pencils to decorate our baskets. In addition to this, we added paper flower buds, pearls, diamantes, buttons, ribbons and Easter shapes. We [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we had a wonderful trip to Beamish Museum! We were transported back in time to the Victorian era, as we dressed up as Victorian school children. We experienced a Victorian lesson in the Beamish Board School where we had to work completely in silence! Next we walked into the town and visited the terraced [&hellip;]</p>
