Year 4 recently went over to the lighthouse project to complete a DT cooking project. We planned out our recipes and measured all of our own ingredients. We worked in our groups of 3 to make delicious cookies.

Last week, Y5 were at the Lighthouse project cooking Spaghetti Bolognese for our DT project, "Farm to Fork", we have investigated how food begins in farms and fields then ends up on our plates. The children chose and cut all of their ingredients, cooked it and ate it! We had so much fun and Mrs Chiru has even had pictures from home where children have shown their parents what we did and cooked a whole family meal!!

This week in science we have been learning all about objects and materials. The children learnt about 6 different material types and what an object is. We found out that an object is made from a material. After sorting different objects into the material they are made from, the children went around the classroom on an object hunt. This week, we made wraps using lots of healthy ingredients. We practised different skills, including snipping, cutting, spreading and grating as part of our work in Design and Technology. This also linked in with our work in Science on choosing foods to keep us fit and healthy. Our wraps were delicious and we plan on making more at home!

What perfect timing! As we’ve been learning all about winter weather and the clothes we need to keep warm, the real winter chill arrived – and even brought snow! The children were thrilled to explore the snowy outdoors. They felt the crunch under their boots, noticed how cold the snow was, and shared brilliant ideas about why we wear coats, hats, scarves, and gloves in winter. Back inside, the creativity continued as the children made their own beautiful snow-themed pictures.
