<p>Yesterday Year 2 were asked to bring their favourite teddy to school. We enjoyed doing lots of activities with our teddy bears. We read our books to them; We did our LEXIA work with them; We did our PE lesson with them, they enjoyed flying on the parachute! In the afternoon we had a visit [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a wonderful morning exploring the natural world on our door step! We went on a nature trail around our yard and field. We worked in groups of three to search for signs of hedgehogs. We had a go at building our own hedgehog homes and looked for slime trails of slugs which are [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have enjoyed a fabulous day today linking lots of areas of the curriculum together around the theme of Autumn. We started the day going for a nature walk around our school grounds and looking for signs of Autumn. We then came back to class and thought of lots of adjectives to describe Autumn. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have really enjoyed learning all about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Year 3. We have took part in lots of activities to learn about this special event. We looked at the Queen’s reign so far since 1952 and we learnt about the immediate Royal Family. We also zoomed in on the Queen’s reign during [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception enjoyed learning about Easter which is a very special time in the Church&#8217;s calendar! They created repeating patterns on Easter eggs: The Easter egg hunt was lots of fun: The children and families created wonderful egg designs for the school competition: Look at the wonderful cards we made in the creative area for our [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Reception class boys and girls have joined together this week to work on a joint Lenten project. We gathered lots of lovely story books which we planned to hide in the community for people to find and enjoy as part of our &#8216;giving&#8217; in Lent. &nbsp; Firstly Year 2 read the books and enjoyed all [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last week it was lovely to be able to welcome our parents back into Nursery for our first Stay and Play session since Covid began! We decided to also make it a celebration for Mother&#8217;s Day. <p>What an exciting afternoon we had! We visited East End Library on Shields Road. Our lovely librarian read a fantastic picture book to us, ‘One Button Benny,’ by Alan Windram. We then decorated our own robots like Benny. We then got the opportunity to look around the children’s section and to choose our own library [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 enjoyed a visit to Byker Library today. We enjoyed listening to a story read by Joanne the Librarian. We got to choose a book to bring back to school. Joanne even let us scan out our own books! &nbsp;</p>

<p>Today we had a wonderful trip to Beamish Museum! We were transported back in time to the Victorian era, as we dressed up as Victorian school children. We experienced a Victorian lesson in the Beamish Board School where we had to work completely in silence! Next we walked into the town and visited the terraced [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We are really enjoying our Victorians topic in Humanities! Today we learnt all about a significant Victorian the inventor and engineer, George Stephenson. He is often called the ‘father of the railway,’ and was born locally in Northumberland. We opened up his suitcase and started to think about who he was and why he is [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week Nursery and Reception Class celebrated World Book Day by focusing on the story &#8216;The Smeds and The Smoos&#8217; by Julia Donaldson &amp; Axel Scheffler. The Nursery children dressed up in blue like the Smoo characters in the story and the Reception children dressed in red like the Smeds. We took part in [&hellip;]</p>

<p>As part of World Book Day celebrations, KS2 explored four different books during the day. Miss Davidson chose the Dam, a picture book based on a true story about the building of Kielder Reservoir. We started the session by discussing change in our lives and how it can be both a good and bad experience. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This year for World Book Day, Mrs Garforth looked at &#8216;Pugs of the Frozen North,&#8217; by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre. Each class from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 learnt a little bit about the fantastic story about Shen and Sika and a pug-pulled sleigh ride to the North Pole! We [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 had a fantastic 1st day as part of a week-long project with IntoUniversity Newcastle East. The scheme &#8211; in partnership with Newcastle University and Northumbria University &#8211; is designed to give children a glimpse into life at Further Education.
