<p>Thanks to our friends at Byker Community Trust, school was able to offer a very special prize for our lucky attendance prize winner at the end of last half-term: tickets to St. James&#8217; Park. <p>Last week, Year 6 had a wonderful residential three-day trip to Borrowdale in the Lake District. We spent our time pushing ourselves to achieve new things; our activities included rock climbing, orienteering, ghyll scrambling and canoeing on the beautiful Derwentwater. Throughout our time at the residential we worked hard to build our resilience and work [&hellip;]</p>

<p>During Lent we have been walking every day as part of our Cafod appeal, we recorded our walks each day in our RE books. Each day we started our daily walk/run with a prayer. <p>We know that all of our parents and carers have very busy lives and can often find it difficult to get to libraries or bookshops to buy books for themselves. We have therefore created a Parent Library in the reception area. There are a variety of books which have been kindly donated by parents and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We have all had a brilliant day celebrating World Book Day in school. The children came dressed as their favourite book characters, or simply in clothes they feel comfortable reading in. Thank you to all of our parents who came along to our Stay and Read sessions this morning, it was lovely to see children [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Our wonderful Open The Book team returned to school this week to act out the Christmas story. They dressed up and involved lots of boys and girls to retell the Nativity Story. It was an essential part of our Advent preparations for Christmas. Thank you and a very Merry Christmas to our Open The Book [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This morning saw the return of the Mini-Vinnies Christmas Coffee morning, Organised by our Mini-Vinnies, this was a fantastic chance for friends of St Lawrence&#8217;s Parish to spend some time with the children. Mrs Garforth led the KS2 Choir and Orchestra in a wonderful concert of Christmas songs,  supported by Mr David Grant on the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Over the last week, the children have noticed some new signs around the KS1 and KS2 yards. We have new maps, maths displays and poems all around school. We hope they will inspire our pupils to become new geographers, scientists and poets!</p>

<p>Another group has started at Forest School this week. We learnt about the rules of Forest School; look after ourselves, look after each other and look after nature. We made a bracelet with 3 colours to remind ourselves of the rules. We then went off into the woods to explore and discover. We found some [&hellip;]</p>

She is the inspiration for this year&#8217;s Fenwick&#8217;s Christmas window! The children met Lauren and listened to her read an extract of Clarice Bean: Think Like an Elf. [&hellip;]</p>

Each class studied a different area of Judaism; Early Years &#8211; Hannukkah  Year 1 &#8211; Abraham and Moses  Year 2 &#8211; Shabbat Year 3 &#8211; Synagogue  Year 4 &#8211; Torah  Year 5 &#8211; Passover  Year 6 &#8211; Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur We all then came [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 2 have enjoyed a fabulous day today linking lots of areas of the curriculum together around the theme of Autumn. We started the day going for a nature walk around our school grounds and looking for signs of Autumn. We then came back to class and thought of lots of adjectives to describe Autumn. [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today in Key Stage 2, we celebrated Languages Day. Our theme this year was Fete de la Musique or World Music Day; a celebration of music which started in France. We learnt about music from around the French speaking world, we watched a film in French, we learnt a French song and we had our [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This week in Year 4 Nurture Group, Caleb brought in the shell of a duck&#8217;s egg which he had found. Nurture Group had a lot of questions about it! Caleb spent the afternoon researching Mallard ducks and reporting what he had found out about them back to us. Thanks Caleb!</p>
