<p>Year 2 enjoyed reading the book The Dot by Peter H Reynolds &nbsp; &nbsp; . We were inspired to produce some fantastic art work like the character in the story. We learnt a lot about colour mixing whilst we were experimenting! What an exciting afternoon!</p>

<p>It was lovely to get to know all of our new nursery children by visiting them at home with their families.  They each enjoyed receiving their new book as a welcome gift. What an exciting year we are going to have with them all!</p>

<p>In class we discussed how things changed in Germany once Hitler was elected Chancellor in 1933. Germans were furious because land and money was taken off them by the Allies after losing World War 1.  On top of this the ‘Great Depression’ saw millions of Germans left with no job so people were angry and [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 had an incredible 3 days in the glorious Lake District sunshine &#8211; challenging themselves with all sorts of different activities. The children were a real credit to their families and school with staff regularly being told by other walkers and adults that the youngsters were amazingly behaved and polite. The trip was based [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Today we enjoyed working in small groups to produce a presentation all about a piece of natural geography in London, the River Thames. We thought about how the river began at a source near the Cotswolds and ended in the North Sea. We also learnt about the famous bridges it passes under, such as London [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Years 5 &amp; 6 learnt vital lifesaving skills to help keep friends and family safe. Sarah, from Mini First Aid, taught us how to deal with situations from minor cuts all the way to helping someone who is unconscious. The children practiced chest compressions on dummies, how to help someone who is choking, as well [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Here are our Nursery children taking part in this year&#8217;s Sports Day activities.  It was a fantastic day, well done to everybody who took part!</p>

<p>This week Early Years and KS 1 have been celebrating Mrs Mcweeny&#8217;s long career in teaching and her 10 years at St Lawrence&#8217;s. She has been much loved by staff and children alike and will be missed greatly but we wish her a happy and healthy retirement. She will always be a part of our [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Nurture Group from Year 3 and Year 4 had a fabulous afternoon out to Scotswood Community Garden, where they took part in pond-dipping, learnt about bees and pollination and went on a mini-beast hunt! The children were beautifully behaved and an absolute credit to the school and their families.</p>
