Reception's Material Hunt

Reception Autumn Experience at the Lighthouse Project
Reception children had a magical afternoon exploring autumn during a special experience at The Lighthouse Project. Year 3 Read ‘The Pebble in my Pocket’
Year 3 have enjoyed reading their new class book ‘The Pebble in my Pocket’. They began by going into the playground to find their own pebble. They then wrote a description of it including some exciting adjectives. Next, they read the description of a volcanic eruption from the book and developed their comprehension skills by answering vocabulary, retrieval and summarising questions.

Investigating Soil in Year 3
This week Year 3 began their new Science topic ‘Rocks and Soils’. The children found out about the components of soil and labelled a pie chart. They then considered which component was the most important: mineral matter, water, air or organic matter. Later, they went outside to play ‘Soil I-Spy’. In pairs they looked for worms, rocks and decomposing leaves.

Year 1 - Baptism
Year 1 planned and had a class liturgy for the end of their Baptism topic in RE this week. We chose a reading from Mark's Gospel about Jesus' own Baptism and as a class, we danced a liturgical dance to the 'Our Father.' It was a lovely way to celebrate the end of our topic and remember and share our learning and think about how we could go forth and share the message with our families.

Year 6 - Creation and Covenant
Year 6 completed their exploration of the Creation and Covenant branch of the RE curriculum with an opportunity to develop their own responses to their learning. Year 4 Ancient Greece- That History Bloke
In year 4 this half term we have been learning about Ancient Greece in History. Today, we had a visitor in to show us all about Ancient Greece. Richard brought in amazing artifacts from Ancient Greek times, such as armor worn in battles, masks worn in plays and weapons used on the battlefield. Year 1 - Paul Klee Art
This term in art, we have been learning how to create different style lines and how to connect them to make different shapes. Our end goal was to draw different shapes to create a portrait inspired by the artist Paul Klee. We started by finding the shapes in a picture of ourselves and outlining them with a pen. Then, we copied the shapes onto a blank page, creating an abstract portrait similar to the work of Paul Klee.

This week, our Reception children truly impressed us with their phonics skills and lovely writing! Prehistoric Art in Year 3
Inspired by cave paintings from the Stone Age, Year 3 have enjoyed creating Prehistoric art. They began by drawing the outline of an animal using charcoal.
