Year 2 Go on a Materials Hunt
To begin our Science topic, we went on a materials hunt around school. We thought about the materials that we see inside and outside of the classroom and the properties of each material. We plan on doing some invesigations on the suitability of different materials as our topic goes on.

Making Healthy Wraps in Year 2
This week, we made wraps using lots of healthy ingredients. We practised different skills, including snipping, cutting, spreading and grating as part of our work in Design and Technology. This also linked in with our work in Science on choosing foods to keep us fit and healthy. Our wraps were delicious and we plan on making more at home!

Reception's Material Hunt

Reception Autumn Experience at the Lighthouse Project
Reception children had a magical afternoon exploring autumn during a special experience at The Lighthouse Project. Investigating Soil in Year 3
This week Year 3 began their new Science topic ‘Rocks and Soils’. The children found out about the components of soil and labelled a pie chart. They then considered which component was the most important: mineral matter, water, air or organic matter. Later, they went outside to play ‘Soil I-Spy’. In pairs they looked for worms, rocks and decomposing leaves.

Autumn Writing in Reception
This week, our Reception children truly impressed us with their phonics skills and lovely writing! As part of our autumn theme, the children explored seasonal objects like leaves, conkers, and pinecones, and used their phonics knowledge to identify and record the initial sounds of each one.
