<p>We had a wonderful visit from the Teddy Bear Hospital this afternoon! The Teddy Bear Hospital is made up of medical students from Newcastle University. We took part in four different activities: healthy eating and exercise, inside my body, sensory play and what to expect at the doctors or hospital. We arranged the internal organs [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 spent the afternoon working with Mr Olatunji listening to and then composing their own blues song in the style of music legend Sam Cooke. They looked at the history of the blues from the deep south of the USA, begun by slaves, and how jazz we created in a similar way. They then [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Our School Council members did a brilliant job last week of selling poppies to support the Royal British Legion. We will let you know how much we have raised for this important charity in the coming weeks.  </p>

<p>The School Council came together to organise a day to raise money for Children in Need. Here they are, hard at work, making posters. It was decided that children would come to school wearing non uniform and crazy hairstyles. All children had a great day whilst raising money for a very important cause. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Year 6 had a fantastic day at Seaton Delaval Hall today all linked to our current humanities unit on map skills. We practised 4 and 6-figure grid references, tried a bit of orienteering and started work on the 16-point compass. What a fantastic way to kick off our module in beautiful surroundings!</p>

<p>Year 3 loved their workshop with Mr O today. We listened to film music by Danny Elfman, such as the music from Batman! We thought about what instruments we could hear. We learned all about ‘mood music’, thinking about what emotion the music makes us feel. We learned what a motif is and had a go at [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had a fantastic visit to Seaton Delaval Hall today. On arrival, we met with Molly who was our tour guide for the day. She took us to a special room where we made three different Autumn crafts. Everyone worked really hard and had fun completing the activities. &nbsp; After all of our hard work, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>In our history lesson we split the class in half, one side was Athens and the other Sparta. Each city state argued their case of which was the best place to live. We then completed an anonymous vote. Athens was voted the best place to live!</p>

<p>Before half term Year 4 had the pleasure of spending the morning with Richard. We held artifacts from Ancient Greece and tried on armour that would have been worn by Greeks! We had a great time!</p>

<p>Year 5 are learning the song ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, by the American Rock Band, Bon Jovi. The class have been listening and appraising other songs in the Rock genre. These have included ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Rocking All Over The World’ and many more. We have looked at several types of Rock such as [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This half term, Year 2 have been learning the song, ‘Hands, Feet, Heart’ by Joanna Mangona. This song celebrates South African music.. Whilst listening to this music we have been moving our bodies, creating our own dances and expressing how the music makes us feel. We have also been learning about what voices and instruments [&hellip;]</p>

<p>We had an amazing trip to Mr Thompson’s farm, Broxfield, near Alnwick. We started off our trip by exploring our way through his brand new pumpkin patch. It was fascinating to see the seeds inside a pumpkin and to find out how they grow. We then visited the cows in their shed. We learnt that [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Year 6 have been learning the song ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams. The class liked this song from the start of term and are very enthusiastic when performing this together. Alongside this song, we have also been learning about other songs that make us happy or have happiness as their theme. For example, ‘Top of the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This half term, Year 4 have been learning the song ‘Mamma Mia’ by Abba. Whilst learning this song, we have been exploring other Abba Songs such as ‘Dancing Queen,’ ‘The Winner Takes It All’ and ‘Waterloo’. We have been discussing similarities and differences each week as we are introduced to a new Abba song. Some [&hellip;]</p>

<p>This half term, Year 1 have been learning the song, ‘Hey You!’. It involves rap verses as well as singing verses. Year 1 learnt this song really quickly and have been very enthusiastic whilst performing this song. This term were have also learnt how to play the glockenspiel. We have learnt where the notes are [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Our first School Council and Eco meeting went very well. The children were full of ideas to make a positive difference in school. We have some exciting events coming up so watch this space&#8230;.</p>
